What Customers Say About Uniden DECT2085-3 DECT 6.0 Cordless Phone/Answering System with Two Extra Handsets and Chargers:

They were extremely rude and acted as though they didn't want to help you. Well, we bought it new, didn't we.

We've called up Uniden, which has horrible customer service, and tried to get replacements. We bought these back in March and within 6 months, the center button that controls ring volume and caller id playback stopped working in 2 of them.

We decided to call back in December just to find out that they were going to replace it with a refurbished phone, not a new one, claiming that ours wasn't new anymore. We were told we would have to pay $10 to get new ones shipped to us, but that they didn't have our model in stock until December.

Otherwise, we would have to get another model that didn't have all the features we have on ours. Doesn't matter to them.

Hopefully, we will be able to return these to the store since I still have the receipt and get something other than a Uniden.

When our old Uniden home phone system finally stopped working well we wanted to replace them with a newer Uniden system because the old system was excellent. The cons are:- This phone does not display the date and time on the face- You cannot set a phone ringer to silent (we like to leave a satellite phone in our baby's room)- When you use the intercom feature both the phone you are paging as well as the phone you use to send the page both make a shrill noise- I don't like how the number pad is designed. Our old Uniden each number had its own button. With this new Uniden the numbers are all on one long strip so if you are trying to dial quickly its easy to mash in between and dial the wrong number- Maybe we got duds but the batteries are already not holding a charge for very long and we got these phones about 6 months agoThe pro is:The range and clarity of the phones are impressive. The old phones would start to lose the signal walking a little bit from our house but with the new phones I can walk all the way to the alley and still hear clearly.Overall I am not impressed with this new system and would not recommend it.

The other problem is that all of the wall warts that come with this phone emit a large amount of elf/emf. This phone has pretty good sound quality and the volume is very good, better than most. So, my advice would be to keep these wall warts away as far away from you as possible, especially from your head while you sleep, maybe at least 4 or 5 feet. Like other reviewer have noted, it occasionally says "out of range" for up to 15 seconds at a time, for no apparent reason even when it is in the same room (only a yard or two) from the base unit. This doesn't happen very often, but is really annoying when it does. Note that for these phones, this pertains to the wall warts not the base unit or handset itself, at least according to my amazon-purchased elf meter. I found that paying attention to elf has helped me sleep better.

Same problems as the Uniden's I replaced. Out of range smack next to the base, drop out, doesn't seem like new technology at all.

I'll start with the good parts first though. - "Out of Range" disconnects even when only *2 feet* away from the base. I find myself and callers often "stepping on" each other's conversation because of this (like a cell phone). Simply annoying. This is a brand new set with brand new batteries, optimally set up. (On the 9485 the buttons are separated for much easier dialing).

I can pick it up from a full overnight charge, and literally within 15 minutes of use the battery meter starts dropping quickly. I can only imagine how bad this would get after a year of heavy use. NO EXCUSE for "Out of Range" spontaneous disconnects, especially when you're sitting right next to the base. Nowhere near as clear as the 9485 5.8Ghz, and I have it positioned in the same exact spot as I had my 9485's, same outlet and all. - The keypad buttons are adjoined, making it very easy to mis-dial despite the fact that the middle row is sunken slightly so that you can feel the difference between number keys.

- HANDSET BATTERY LIFE is TERRIBLE. Since my favorite phone system so far has been the Uniden TRU-9485 series, I'll base my comparisons / critiques against that. this doesn't seem to affect the caller on the other end, but you yourself will hear an "echoey" sound on yur own voice in the headset and handset, almost as if you have a reverb or slight delay effect on your voice. I just got the Uniden DECT2085-3 set brand new straight from Uniden's online store about 2 weeks ago and I'm ready to pack it up and return it. If you've got large fingers / thumbs, this is going to be an issue for you. I've lost calls after only one quick warning beep after very little talk time. The 9485 are virtually noise-free, have just as much range, battery life is better, keypad is superior, and has more features. This is trivial for some people, but for me it's important.

I hate to disagree with the positive review(s) on this Uniden DECT2085 series but as a big fan of my previous Unidens (I liked the TRU-8885 system and I LOVED the TRU-9485) I have to say that I'm extremely disappointed in the Uniden DECT2085 series. Poor keypad design. - Echo echo echo. It sounds robotic, almost like a cell phone. I work in a basement and can't hear knocks at the door upstairs, so I've always used the Room Monitor feature of my 9485's to listen for important deliveries etc. The DECT2085 falls short on almost all fronts compared to it's predecessors. Uniden DECT2085 PROS: - Very light-weight handsets (a pro if you like them light) - Smaller size than previous versions - Very good speakerphone and easy dialing from the base - Easy setup / very easy menu navigation - Convenient headset jack on each handset - Stand-alone base comes with easy wall-mount attachment - Sleek design, looks good, very contemporary Uniden DECT2085 CONS: - Static / noise on the line is constant and annoying. I'm ditching this 2085 blunder and going back to my 9485's (glad I didn't sell them on eBay yet, because the price for 9485 is ridiculous now, as opposed to when I bought the 3-handset set here new for only $129).

- No "Room Monitor" feature. Why Uniden would have ditched this simple feature that was standard with the 8885's and 9485's is inexplicable. Sorry Uniden, but the DECT2085 and it's DECT 6.0 technology doesn't hold a candle to it's predecessors, such as the 9485 5.8Ghz. Kinda sad really, this is my first negative review of a Uniden multi-handset system.
